More about me

Contracts with clients are regarded as journeys where I get to travel with you to support you through the roadworks and the fast lane too! It’s not always about problem-solving - it’s also about helping you to grow your business by ensuring that you have the right people in the right place at the right time. I’ll work with you as your ‘people partner’, using my professional expertise to help you and your managers spot and address issues, ahead of time. Being commercially aware myself means that I understand the importance of ‘bottom line’, and I believe that I am an ‘enabler’ in terms of making sure that I support your business’s performance through its people to enhance and improve that performance.

After graduating with a BA(Hons) in Marketing from Stirling University many moons ago, I began my career working in Retail Management. Throughout the next ten years I gained experience in the fields of Management Recruitment, Personnel and Human Resources - all within the retail environment. I ran my own HR Consultancy business for six and a half years, working primarily with SMEs - providing everything from Recruitment & Induction to Job Evaluation, Employment Legislation, Training & Development and Performance Management to a wide variety of business types including private organisations, public and third sector enterprises and various charity organisations. I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute Of Personnel & Development – an HR Generalist with a passion for Training & Development. I was a tutor for ICS Learning over a period of 4 years delivering the Certificate of Personnel Practice workshops to distance learning students and a tutor for the Go Training Group (Glasgow) writing bespoke training courses for established SME’s. I have regularly written and delivered training courses & workshops for new SME’s through Clackmannanshire Business Gateway where I also assisted in the delivery of a ‘support for growth’ programme for Clackmannanshire businesses, funded by the European Regional Development Council. During my time with Greig Melville HR I have assisted many businesses through Falkirk Business Gateway including both start up and growth companies with ‘all things HR-related’ and continue to provide a full HR service support to a diverse range of clients. My style is facilitative rather than directive. I am a great believer in the old adage ‘Feed a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, feed him for life'. I like to build relationships with clients in order to fully understand their business and therefore provide solutions which have a practical application in the workplace. See attached training session examples (cpd included).
